Alex Popovici is a violinist, guitarist, conductor, and lifelong Ohioan. He is currently pursuing a DMA in Music Performance at Bowling Green State University, where he is an assistant conductor of the Philharmonia, also performing with the New Music Ensemble and Combustible Arts Ensemble. He began teaching violin and guitar privately while attending Kent State University where he received an M.M. in Instrumental Conducting and a B. A. in Music. During his time in Kent, Alex also performed as conductor and violinist with ensembles such as the Hiram College Chamber Orchestra and the Stow Symphony Orchestra. A performer, teacher, and lover of many styles of music, Alex has found himself at home while conducting opera, as a violinist in chamber groups, strumming bluegrass, and playing in rock bands.
